Two shows in a row on time, yes! Despite last day complications, a member of our roster (Crystal) swooped in and saved the day. I very much appreciated it and I know the rest of the roster did too. The handler had an amazing effort on this show as well. A huge bounce back from two weeks ago, and I LOVE to see that!
Before I get started on the main card I want to make something 100% clear. If your character is featured on WWR Dark at ANY POINT, it is in NO WAY to be considered a punishment. Dark was created as a method to book more talent onto the show without overburdening the match writers and myself when putting super large shows together.
Basically how I book, is I solidify the eight match card, then I look at who I don't have booked and I try to figure out a match that makes sense and I add them to Dark. It is never meant as a punishment, nor will it EVER be. However, with the upcoming PPV we will be having a larger card than normal, most likely ten matches instead of eight. If the match writing participation is good. Maybe we can look at booking more matches on the regular Battleground shows going forward. But for now? Dark is simply just a way to book more of you all on the show. It is NOT a punishment! Thank you!
Match 1: Fatal Five Way for the #1 Contendership of the BG Championship: Jenni Taylor vs. Chesty Larue vs. Sarah Richardson vs. Kiera Smith vs. Milana Radek
Written by: Super Tiger
Winner(s): Jenni Taylor
Man, did I flip flop on this match a lot. lol I really couldn't make up my mind. I changed my mind quite a few things over the course of the last week but I kept going back to Jenni Taylor. When I got their segment it pretty much sealed the deal and I declared them the winner. I want to clarify something in general here while I'm thinking about it too. And this mainly applies to the handlers in this company who handle multiple characters. Sometimes its extremely difficult to push all of those characters at once. I see and notice the effort, and I appreciate it. And long term all of your characters will be rewarded. But to make sure everyone feels like they upward momentum here I feel like I have to pick and choose at points who gets pushed and who doesn't. So if you are running multiple characters here and you see one getting pushed harder than the others it isn't anything against your other characters at all. It's simply just a rotation. Everyone who puts in the time and effort here will get their time to shine. Just with a roster of this size, it can't come immediately. I hope you all understand that and if you have any questions regarding this you know you can reach out to me and we can chat about whatever is on your mind.
Match 2: Round one triple threat match: Anya Lebeaux vs. Dominique Frost vs. Halo
Written by: Malaya
Winners: Dominique Frost
I felt all three of these handlers brought it for their respective characters in this match. In a non-storyline scenario. This would have been an incredibly hard decision to make. But I felt going in for the current story of the Queen's Court, Dominique's advancement into the second round was extremely important for story telling purposes. Especially because of what she did in the next match and her actions at the end of the night in the main event. The victory simply made sense. I was very happy with Anya and Halo's activity and I expect big things from both of them down the line for sure.
Match 3: Round one triple threat match: Bobbi Jackson vs. Crystal Zdunich vs. Mercedes White
Written by: Susan
Winner: Crystal Zdunich
This was absolutely a trial by fire for Crystal's handler this show (no pun intended). I purposely booked this match because I wanted to see how the handler would respond. And they stepped it up BIG TIME. They did a lot of hyping and they segmented their asses off. Maybe TOO much to the point where they wrote a segment that I legitimately couldn't find a place to fit on the show. I told them I would use it next show and if they still want to go for that we will absolutely do that. Bobbi could have easily faced off against Dominique in the semis had Crystal not stepped up. An argument could also be made for an incredibly upset from Mercedes who did a great job hyping and segmenting for the show as well. I was very happy with everyone's efforts here and I was more than happy to write Bobbi out of the tournament in favor of someone else here on the roster. Proud of you Crystal, keep it up!
Match 4: Round one triple threat match: Azurine Vebbins vs. Misti Malandro vs. Aurora Ray
Written by:Arley Kirk Crystal
Winner: Azurine Vebbins
This is one of two matches that very much made me nervous today. The person who was writing these matches has vanished and while I hope they're okay. I was left in a situation where I didn't know if I was going to get this show out on time. Luckily Crystal stepped up (again) and wrote both of their matches for the show last minute. It was absolutely clutch and I very much appreciate it. This match honestly was very easy to judge and I didn't really have to think too hard about it. I know Misti is still getting back into the thick of things and I don't know Aurora well enough to know what happened, but I hope to see better efforts from both in the future when given an opportunity to compete for the World Championship like this.
Match 5: Round one triple threat match: Malaya Diyosa vs. Lassindra Vivara Vodanya vs. Jonna Austin
Written by: Juliana
Winner: Malaya Diyosa
The hype was good from all three handlers here. Lass however is still getting used to the World of WWR thing clearly and really didn't utilize it to their advantage for this show. I did appreciate the segments from both Malaya and Lass. But with Azurine going over in the previous match it made perfect sense for Malaya to pick up a much deserved victory here. I didn't plan Face/Heel Face/Heel going into the semis, but it happened to work out and I can't hate that at all. I think these two semis matches are going to be CRAZY at A New Challenger and I look forward to the four of you giving me fits when I'm trying to decide who advances to the finals. lol
Match 6: WWR Battleground Championship: Diamond Caldwell vs. Victoria Salinas vs. Eve O'Donnell (c)
Written by: Super Tiger
Winner: The match ends in a draw, thus Eve O'Donnell retains the WWR Battleground Championship
I am BEYOND thrilled with the Battleground division in WWR right now. So much so, that I didn't want it to end. All three people in this match have been absolutely CRUSHING IT! I wanted to see this feud extended into the PPV. So I changed things up a bit, allowing Eve to NOT defend the title on the next show and be in a tag match instead with the other BG title contenders which will lead to a match at the PPV. At this point I haven't the slightest clue who is leaving Through Heaven and Hell with the Battleground title. It could absolutely be ANY of them! That's how good all of you are! You guys are great and I'm proud to have all of you here in WWR! Keep kicking ass!
Match 7: Fatal 4 way tag match for the #1 contendership of the tag team titles:
Regulators Inc. vs. The Queen's Court vs. The Beautification Movement vs. Wildside
Written by:Arley Crystal
Winners: The Beautification Movement
This was the other match that had to be written last minute today which completely changed what I had envisioned for it. The original writer was going to do the Tiger Pride commentary throughout the match as they are very familiar with the way Super Tiger speaks. It was going to be a test drive to see if people liked commentary within the matches or not going forward. But hey, shit happens. Like I said earlier, I hope the original writer is okay, but I haven't heard from them so I don't know. So yea... Onto the match itself, this was an incredibly difficult match to decide a winner of. Because I could honestly make an argument for any of them. I gave the Beautification Movement the win based on the momentum they've been gaining since their arrival. I think their match with Tiger Pride at the PPV is another match that will be VERY difficult to determine a winner because I expect all four handlers to bring it! Should be a TON of fun! Congrats to every team in this match, you all were fantastic!
Match 8: Eliza Frost-Showtime vs. Susan Rigger w/ Dominique as the special guest referee (Champion vs Champion)
Written by: Susan
Winner: Susan Rigger wins after Dominique turns on her sister
The match was awesome, not that anyone should be surprised. Susan always writes great matches. I had two different scenarios in my mind when I made this match. Either Bobbi was going to be the referee and would help Eliza win. Or Dominique was going to ref and thus the outcome that you saw went down. Eliza had been planned to turn face in GZWA prior to their closing to align with Bobbi there to do battle against the Court. This will now play out here in WWR instead. I'm excited to see where the handlers take this feud next. The stable wars are about to get very interesting in WWR in the weeks and months to come. And hell, for all we know...maybe another stable could be showing up sometime in the future?
OVERALL THOUGHTS:
I COULD be wrong? But I feel like the segment turn out for this show was even greater than BG X! Which is crazy! But it's a good problem to have! I appreciate everyone on this roster putting in the work! You guys are amazing! I continue to see growth slowly but surely within the World of WWR. I know a lot of people are getting used to this aspect of the game but I truly believe its going to succeed here. I'm truly excited about the LiveWire idea and some of the interactions I've had on there with other members of the roster have been a lot of fun and I look forward to doing more of those in the near future.
And just like last show...In closing, thanks you all for being here. Thanks for having fun. Thank you all for everything! Let's continue to have fun together! Long live WWR! Please feel free to comment on BG XI below! I'd love to hear your thoughts!
