(OOC Note: This is an excerpt of an RP I wrote for another fed recently. This takes place prior to THAH and goes into Victoria's beginnings before all the fame/titles got to her head. Figured with the direction I'm going in, I'd post this here)
11/9/2009 (FLASHBACK)
Berlin, Germany.
Twenty one years of age and incredibly shy, Victoria walks down the hallway trying to mostly hide from her new peers. Of course she knew some of the names in the PRW locker room by reputation, but there’s no way she’s even thinking about being a future world champion. She’s just worried about getting through her first night on the job in her mainstream debut. A card has been posted on the wall right inside the catering area and the rookie decides to take a glance at it. She looks for her name and finds herself on the bottom of the card, in an opening match, against an unknown wrestler named David Jones.
“David Jones?” Victoria asks. “Who the hell is David Jones?”
“Wow… that hurt…” she hears a male voice behind her say. Victoria turns to see the man that would be her opponent for the evening. “You think you’re better than me already?”
“No no…” Victoria says. “It’s not that… I wasn’t asking that to be disrespectful. I was asking that because… I don’t know you. That’s all it is. You’re new around here too, huh?”
“I am. Sorry if I misinterpreted. David Jones…”
David extends his hand to Victoria who shakes it with some trepidation.
“Victoria Salinas… wow… talk about nerves…”
“I feel you on that…” David says. “...you seem to be a good girl. Where are you from?”
“Montana…” Victoria says. “...not exactly glamorous, I know. I grinded my way to get to this business… I worked for a diner for an eternity to pay for wrestling school, made the travel all the way to Seattle, worked my way up through the regional Indies… got signed and… yeah… here we are…”
“And why are you a part of this, Victoria?” David asks.
“It’s to realize a dream…” Victoria responds. “This isn’t about being rich and famous. This isn’t about being the biggest wrestling star in the world. I’m just… very grateful and very proud that I’ve even gotten this far. If I win a championship, great but… hoarding championships and being seen as the best of the best… that’s not the lifestyle for me. I can’t imagine being under all of that pressure. I don’t need to be flashy… I just want my abilities to do the talking and that’s it. I’m just a simple backwoods girl really… nothing to bring home to mom or anything…”
“Interesting… so you’re not one of those girls that has to… you know…”
“What?”
“...sleep around… show off some assets…”
“EW… no…” Victoria tells her opponent for the night. “I’m not that kind of girl.”
“You’re already one step ahead of the others then…” David says. “I don’t know how good you are…”
“Honestly…” Victoria interjects. “I don’t know how good I am either… well… I MUST be good if I’m under contract with a global company at least…”
“You seem like a girl that’s got a great head on her shoulders… and I have a feeling that you fight with honor and dignity… so I’m definitely looking forward to facing you out there tonight.”
David extends his hand to Victoria again, making her feel a little awkward.
“Yeah… the feeling is mutual…” Victoria nervously says. “...good luck…”
The two shake hands again before David departs from the scene and Victoria is left to focus on her huge mainstream debut that was to come on this night…
Later…
“How did you do it?” PRW’s interview asks Victoria. “You showed a hell of a lot of skill out there in your debut victory over David Jones.”
“Determination…” Victoria responds. “I was determined to go out there, realize my dream and make the biggest impact I could possibly make. I was driven to win. I wanted to give it all and I wanted to start my career on the brightest note possible and I feel like I did just that! I even heard the crowd start to cheer for me a little more the longer the match went on. It was… you know… a great thrill… and I’m only getting started! I’m going to keep pushing as hard as I can to make my dreams come true and to truly make it in this business… and I’m going to do it all the right way! This isn’t about being the greatest of all time… it’s about being the best wrestler that I can possibly be… and I’m never going to take this for granted. I’m always going to respect the honor and integrity of this business…
Victoria maintains a bright smile, happy that her dreams have truly come alive… of course… unaware of what the future would hold for her…

“Where did I go astray?”
Victoria asks herself this question as she looks at a reflection of herself in a river that is in the vicinity of the greater Toronto area.
“When I first started… I was just glad to be in the business. I didn’t want to win all the championships. I wasn’t doing this so I could be the biggest wrestling star in the world. And yet… that rookie that I was before that took nothing for granted… what did she evolve into? The success came… but the more successful I became… the more caught up I was in all the bright lights, the fame and the fortune. I reached a point where all I gave a damn about was being the best and being the center of attention. I know that over the years, I’ve alienated so many people because of this. I know that I’ve hated myself time and time again just because I’m not living up to my own expectations. I regret that I’ve spent the last two years starving for a championship and beating myself up for it because it never comes. That’s the pressure of this business for you…
I forgot how to just go out there and have fun. I forgot how to relax. There has been a company or two that hasn’t worked out for me in the last two years because I’ve put so much pressure on myself to try to get back to a certain level that is… in all honesty… impossible. I’ve had to fight these doubts in my head… with people whispering and saying that I’m 32 and that automatically makes me ‘over the hill’ when I know deep down in my heart that it’s not true. I’ve gone into this company and that company pressuring myself right in the door… and I can’t afford to do that with AGW…
I just need to relax…
I just need to be myself…
I need to be that wrestler that I was when I broke into this business all over again…
I’ve got to find that rookie… because she’s the key for me to get my career to a higher level than before…
I need to go about things the right away again… when it was for the love of the sport and not for the glory and the championships…
Victoria continues to look at her reflection in the water… just as she’s reflecting on the night she won her first championship ever and how much it meant to her…
12/21/2009
“How in the HELL did you pull that off?”
The PRW interviewer finds herself completely stunned and impressed at Victoria, who has a championship wrapped around her waist along with a steel chair and a sledgehammer. She’s beaming with pride through all of the sweat that is pouring down her face… along with some, but not too much, blood mixed along with it.
“I’m talking here with the NEW PRW Hardcore Champion in Victoria Salinas… and… um… I’m speechless…”
“Believe me… I am too…” Victoria says with a disbelieving laugh. “I didn’t know I had it in me to be that hardcore, you know? I’ve always felt like I am more of a technical wrestler but… WOW… I really don’t know how to explain this, honestly… I mean… it was a rush blasting that poor bastard’s knee with this here sledgehammer… you know? It was quite a feeling just wrapping this chair around his knee and taking that sledgehammer and constantly smacking that chair with this hammer over and over trying to get him to quit… oh god, I sound like a sadist…”
“...it’s okay, Victoria… you’ve never had an experience like this before…”
“...I did what I had to do… in an I Quit match… you know?” Victoria asks. “So many people didn’t think I had the nerve or the guts to stretch the limits, but I did. I have to give the old champion credit. Even though I kept delivering the pain, he wouldn’t give up. It took me having to put the poor guy in a figure four and grabbing the ropes while I STILL had the chair wrapped around his leg before he finally screamed ‘I Quit’ into the microphone… it was a thrill of an experience for me and… um… I came out a champion so… that was great…”
“Six matches… zero losses… and you’re a champion already…” the interviewer reminded Victoria. “You must be a special kind of talent to pull that off…”
“I wouldn’t say that…” Victoria says with a humble attitude. “This isn’t about being a prodigy. Yeah, I won this championship and this really makes a big dream of mine come true… but this was about being the best that I can be and I proved that. I’m humbled and honored to be a champion in this business and I’m going to keep going to prove to the world that you don’t have to come from the biggest city or come from the richest family to be something in this business… I’m going to be the best champion possible and do the best that I can while it lasts…
I proved that there’s no limit to how far I can go when necessary to get to the next level… and that there’s no limit to what my potential really is…”
Victoria pauses, taking a reflective sigh, now shedding some humble tears of joy.
“...this is the greatest night of my life so far… and I’m not going to take it for granted… ever! The small town girl just inspired so many people like her!”
Victoria walks away, hanging on to that steel chair and sledgehammer that won her the very first championship she ever won in this business…
